Local Government Long Term Plans 2012
As the key planning document for local authorities and the one that effectively sets a Council’s budget for up to ten years ahead, the LTP is a critical process by which tourism businesses and the regional tourism organisations (RTOs) can make their voice heard with their local authority.
TIA, RTONZ and Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) have developed a set of materials to help tourism operators and RTOs better understand the LTP process as well as being able to provide useful input into the development of an LTP in their region.
The tools developed include:
1.What is an LTP and why is it important for the visitor industry?
2. Timeline for visitor industry input.
3. Sample letter to Mayor or Councillor.

TIA, RTONZ and LGNZ will be developing further collateral for RTOs and tourism businesses throughout the year to help them better engage with their Councils. This includes the development of materials for the Annual Plan process and general submissions to Council
